50mph speed limit survey

a9

The Scottish Government have announced a consultation into the national speed limit on single carriageway roads; including the A9, A82, and other A-roads in the Highlands.

The proposed changes to the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph would apply for all single carriageway roads to which the national speed limit currently applies. The proposed changes to speed limits for goods vehicles (>7.5t) would apply for all single and dual carriageways in Scotland

The claim is that this change to our road network could lead to a 23% reduction in fatalities and an 18% reduction in serious injury.

However the frustration is that the Scottish Government is focusing on this, instead of the much needed dualling of the A9.

Have your say on this change, take our survey below.
