Auditor General’s comments are “devastating indictment” of SNP - Cameron

Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has said that comments made by the Auditor General for Scotland, Stephen Boyle, are “a devastating indictment” of the SNP’s performance in government

In a blog published on the Audit Scotland  website last week, Mr Boyle wrote: ‘Scotland remains riven by inequalities: in wealth, in education, in health and in opportunity.’

Mr Cameron, the Scottish Conservative spokesman on the constitution, said: “It has taken Stephen Boyle little more than twelve months in post to rumble the fact that Nicola Sturgeon’s big talk is not matched by performance."

“His judgement is a devastating indictment of the SNP’s performance, especially in education and health which are the most important responsibilities of the Scottish Government.  Given his conclusions, it is profoundly depressing that the SNP’s priorities at its conference, taking place today, make no mention of our vital public services."

“They are, and I quote from the SNP’s own website: ‘Independence, the 2022 Council election and Climate Change, with COP26 taking place this year in Glasgow’ (which is actually being  hosted by the UK Government)."

“So long as the SNP’s priorities are so out-of-step with the public’s priorities, I fear we have little prospect of seeing much-needed improvements in our schools or hospitals.”
