Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has warned that the decline in the public’s satisfaction with local public services in Scotland is putting strains on the country.
The annual Scotland’s People report showed opinion of local services has plummeted over the last decade with rural adults even less satisfied with their services than their urban counterparts.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said: “Public dissatisfaction in rural Scotland has grown, and nowhere is that more noticeable than with public transport, which is hardly surprising given the SNP’s repeated failures here, whether it is ferries, air traffic control proposals, or the state of our trunk roads such as the A83."
“There is now a damaging divergence between rural and urban Scotland and the fact that various island authorities, such as Orkney and Shetland, are exploring ways of regaining powers is another sign of the times."
“The SNP has always wanted to centralise decision-making to Holyrood, and the public across the Highlands and Islands is beginning to notice.”
Satisfaction with local services is on p.55 of the annual report - https://www.gov.scot/binaries/content/documents/govscot/publications/statistics/2020/09/scottish-household-survey-2019-key-findings/documents/scotlands-people-annual-report-key-findings-2019/scotlands-people-annual-report-key-findings-2019/govscot%3Adocument/scotlands-people-annual-report-key-findings-2019.pdf
HCUA Opinion:
Once again we see that everything the SNP touches crumbles into dust under their toxic, secretive and all-pervading mismanagement. SNP paranoia has combined with utter failure to result in a devastating indictment of Sturgeon's decade of failure. We have little time left to save Scotland from the shambolic and corrupting influence of Nationalist Socialist dogma and ideology. Another 5 years of Sturgeon and the SNP in charge will destroy the fabric of Scottish life and prosperity for generations.
