News that Highlands and Islands Enterprise has invested a total of £400,000 into two local community hub projects has been welcomed by Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron.

The transformative redevelopment of the old Carloway Primary School and Knock Primary School buildings into state-of-the-art community spaces will see respective investments of £200,000 each from HIE.

To mark the announcement of the investment, as well as the benefit that both projects will bring to communities in and around Carloway and Point, Donald Cameron MSP has laid down a motion in the Scottish Parliament.

Donald Cameron MSP said:

“I am delighted that two old school buildings will be brought back to life and into the community through both of these local projects.  As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions start to ease, it is important that local residents have more spaces to meet, and that local businesses have new facilities that they can benefit from."

“The investment from HIE will be a big boost to both projects, and I look forward to seeing the end result.”
