Cllr Helen Crawford with Edward Mountain MSP

Scottish Conservative Highland Councillor Helen Crawford met with Edward Mountain MSP and Stephen Kerr MSP on Tuesday 8th November at the Scottish  Parliament to discuss a range of policy areas within the Education portfolio.

Their discussions included how to best support our Early Learning and Childcare private and voluntary independent (PVI) partners in Highland, a vital part of local ELC provision that Scottish Conservative Councillors have been fighting to protect against moves by Highland Council that risked seeing many PVI partners being driven out of business with hugely damaging consequences for Highland children.

Other topics covered included what can be done to improve literacy and numeracy in our primary schools, with Highland sitting firmly at the bottom of the list of the 32 Local Authorities in Scotland, a shocking indictment of failed Council and SNP policies.
