Speaking recently about the unacceptable situation facing pupils across Highland, Cllr Crawford said “Highland used to lead the way in academic achievement, with rigour and excellence in literacy and numeracy being a cornerstone of our success. We now languish at the bottom of the rankings in Scotland and I am campaigning to shine a light on that and reintroduce a focus on these learning fundamentals. Our hardworking teachers are inundated with endless tasks. They and our children deserve better strategic support from our Council.”
