MSPs expected to back livestock protection proposals

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s vote on the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Bill, Jamie Halcro Johnston, the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy, said:

“I am very pleased that it looks as though one of the final acts of the Scottish Parliament before it dissolves for the election campaign will be to extend greater protection to our farmers and crofters who all too often are left dealing with the distressing aftermath of attacks on their livestock by out-of-control dogs."

“It will be good to leave Holyrood -  hopefully temporarily -  on a positive note, with the knowledge that the Parliament has delivered a positive measure in support of our farmers - those who put food on our plates and act as custodians for the countryside.”

Jamie Halcro Johnston is planning to speak in the debate which is due to take place in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament tomorrow from 4.15pm.
