Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has welcomed the announcement that more than two-thirds of all adults in the UK have received two doses of a Covid vaccine.

The Scottish Conservative MSP said: “This is an extraordinary achievement and is the result of an immense national effort.  UK success in securing doses of the vaccines - coupled with more local efforts in getting those doses in arms - have been remarkable."

“Our thanks must go to all those involved in the UK vaccination rollout, including health professionals and volunteers here in the Highlands and Islands and across the United Kingdom.  Who would have thought that in just eight months since the first jag was administered, that over 38 million UK citizens would be double-dosed?"

“There is some way still to go, but it’s clear that the route out of restrictions is by mass vaccination and I would encourage anyone over the age of 18 who hasn’t received a jag to do so as soon as possible.”
