Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has said that the UK Government’s £1bn mobile connectivity programme is good news for his region.
People in rural Scotland, Wales and the North East of England will enjoy huge improvements in their mobile coverage due to the new Shared Rural Network scheme which forms a major part of the government’s plan to level up all parts of the UK and bring economic and social benefits for people no matter where they live.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said: “The fact that the Highlands and Islands will be one of the areas that will most benefit from increases in 4G signal is highly significant as we know that a lack of digital connectivity can deter people from setting up businesses. This scheme means that people will be able to more easily run their businesses here, creating new jobs and opportunities for local young people.”
