A local candidate and Councillor has begun fulflment of her pledge to "take the pylon fight to Holyrood".
In the same week that the Leader of Highland Council refused to help the Community Council Convention secure a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy, Councillor Helen Crawford met with several MSP's during a visit to the Scottish Parliament.
Councillor Crawford, Scottish Conservative Holyrood 2026 candidate for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said that her visit to Holyrood gave her a greater indication of how to secure the meeting, which she hopes to host in one of Holyrood's infamous committee rooms.
These developments follow the Community Council Convention organised by Helen Crawford in August. At the convention, Helen was successful in securing cross-party support from 11 MPs and MSPs who pledged to secure debates and stand against the ongoing flood of renewable energy infrastructure in the Highlands.
Helen thanked Edward Mountain MSP, Douglas Lumsden MSP and Tim Eagle MSP for their "valuable insight" into how best to progress her campaign regarding the deluge of Net Zero infrastructure, which has left Highlanders feeling angry and ignored.
During her visit, Councillor Crawford also highlighted Fife Council's recent decision to pass her motion on major energy infrastructure and community engagement, and stated that she is more than happy to liase with councillors across Scotland who wish to do the same.
Councillor Crawford said: "I was delighted to visit Holyrood and to see first-hand where national decisions on issues such as energy infrastructure are made.
"Discussing the Convention's findings and sentiments at Parliament is the next step in the fulfillment of my pledge to take the pylon fight to Holyrood.
"I am grateful to Edward Mountain, Douglas Lumsden and Tim Eagle for the valuable insights into options for progressing this campaign. I sincerly hope Gillian Martin will be similarly attentive regarding the concerns I will bring to Holyrood.
"If the Leader of Highland Council won't help secure a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary in the Highlands, I will bring the convention to her in the Scottish Parliament.
"As well as the CConvention, my visit to Holyrood was made all the more exciting by my candidacy for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
"I believe it is vital that communities are represented accurately and authentically within the Parliament by representatives who will stand up for their constituents and ask the tough but necessary questions of the Government.
"Highlanders will be heard!"
