Highlands and Islands MSP, Edward Mountain, is delighted that Highland One Stop Shop has secured funding to ensure the service can continue until March 2021.

In a Scottish Parliament debate on supporting communities, Edward Mountain MSP stated that it is essential that the Scottish Government continues to support charity-run services in the Highlands.

In his speech Edward Mountain MSP said:

“I would like to welcome the creation of the Scottish Government’s £20m Wellbeing and Resilience Fund, which has secured the future of many charity-run services, including the Highland One Stop Shop”

“A service I have long-campaigned for and it couldn’t be a more important time to ensure this vital services continues and that no one is left behind.”

Edward Mountain has repeatedly pressed the Scottish Government to support the Highland One Stop Shop.

In January 2020, Edward Mountain MSP secured cross-party support for a Scottish Parliament Members’ Debate on securing the future of the Highland One Stop Shop.

Edward Mountain’s motion stated:

“That the Parliament acknowledges the tremendous work carried out by the Highland One Stop Shop (HOSS); notes that this is a free service for autistic adults aged 16 and over who live in the Highlands, as well as their families, carers and professionals; acknowledges concerns regarding the difficulties in securing funding to continue the running of HOSS; understands the uncertainty that this causes for all those who use and provide the service, and notes the hope that funding will be found for the continued running of HOSS and for a pilot project to support diagnosis of autism in the Highlands.”
