Saturday saw Scottish Conservatives from across the Highlands gather to hear from Councillors, MSPs and activists about recent political developments and plans for the coming election. In a lively Q&A session the candidate for the new Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey Parliamentary constituency, Kathleen Robertson, explained how she was working as the leader of Moray Council to put right the disastrous legacy left by the previous failed SNP administration in Moray.
MSPs Jamie Halcro Johnston and Edward Mountain brought the conference up to date on the latest Scottish parliament business and the numerous matters they were campaigning on in support of constituents across the Highlands. They commented on the recent MSP defections away from the SNP and about how the disastrous tenure of Humza Yousaf has seen the Nationalists divide into a number of warring tribes. At Holyrood they are keeping up the pressure on the SNP/Green coalition as scandals like the ferries fiasco keep growing.
Douglas Ross MP MSP spoke about a range of matters including the most recent scandal dogging the SNP, their refusal to release WhatsApp messages from the COVID period, He also spoke about the Scottish Conservative plans for government, moas set out in the "Grasping the Thistle" document, and why it was vital for our councillors and candidates to be out campaigning to tell voters that there was a positive way forward for Scotland out of the years of SNP incompetence and disaster.
The conference attendees left the event with a clear sense that the separatist extremism that drives the Nationalists had become so toxic that iwas destroying them from the inside, and that the race to save Scotland from the pernicious and dishonest Socialism of the SNP and Marxist Greens was well underway (unlike the ferries). Activists ended the day well briefed about the coming campaigns and ready to get out onto the streets to canvass and campaign.
