Meet Eva Short, the Scottish Conservative candidate for the Tain and Easter Ross By-Election on June 13th. Eva has spent over 25 happy years in the Highlands, raising her family and immersing herself in the local community. From running local community groups to working hard in the NHS, Eva has been a committed local resident and will be a hardworking, passionate Councillor fighting for the real priorities of local people.
On her experience and campaign, Eva said: "I am working mum of two and I have lived in the area for almost 25 years. Throughout this time, I have worked for the NHS and been heavily involved in the local area, including running a mother and toddler group.
"If elected, I want to work with NHS Highland, Highland Council and especially the local community to improve access to GP services. Local residents deserve sufficient and compassionate care assistance to be put in place so people can be discharged from hospitals to recover at home. I will fight to make this happen.
"I want to work with local schools and parents on the challenges that will arise once the new Tain Academy opens, welcoming pupils of all age groups - including some in their first year of education.
"I welcome the jobs and opportunities - especially for young people - that will flow from the new Freeport, but I want to help ensure that the additional infrastructure, such as additional NHS facilities, school places, road improvements and more, are in place in ample time.
"If elected, one of my main priorities will be working hard to put fresh heart into Tain High street, so it is once again a thriving local hub of attractive shops and cafes.
"If I am fortunate enough to be elected as a Tain councillor, I will be a strong representative for local people and will work hard to ensure your voices and priorities are heard."
On June 13th, vote Eva Short number one!
