Shadow Health Secretary Donald Cameron has welcomed confirmation from the Ministry of Defence that the UK Armed Forces will help provide more support and start administering vaccines in Scotland to speed up the SNP’s slow rollout.
The Highlands and Islands MSP said: “The Defence Secretary has made it clear for some time that the Armed Forces were just waiting for the call from the Scottish Government.
“Given their unparalleled skills in complex logistics and their ability to cut through organisational logjams, I’m sure everyone who shares my worry about the slow roll-out of vaccines in Scotland, will welcome this development."
“There is a lot of ground to make up, not helped by the First Minister’s refusal to accept that there is a problem, even though the SNP Health Secretary had to admit things needed to go faster."
“I devoutly hope that we soon begin to see a turn-round, as closing down on the virus before it has the chance to mutate into more virulent forms is absolutely essential.”
