Ahead of this weekend’s Small Business Saturday (4th December), Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has given his backing to the campaign to encourage people to support their local small businesses when shopping for Christmas.

Mr Halcro Johnston, who is the Scottish Conservatives’ Shadow Business Minister, said “Small businesses employ thousands of local people across the Highlands and Islands.  They provide a range of services that larger national companies simply won’t provide and are the beating heart of many of our town centres."

“Throughout the pandemic, in extremely difficult circumstances, many small business have stepped up to ensure communities - and some of our most vulnerable people - haven’t missed out."

“In the run up to the festive season, I hope folk will support small and local businesses by making Christmas purchases locally where they can.”
