Responding to the announcement of the death of Fort William and Ardnamurchan Councillor Ian Ramon, Jamie Halcro Johnston MSP said:

“I was saddened to hear the announcement of the death of my Highland Conservative colleague Cllr Ian Ramon, and my deepest condolences are extended to his family on what must be a deeply trying time for them personally."

“Ian was a Conservative stalwart in Lochaber for many years, culminating in his election as a ward Councillor back in 2017. A local man through and through, with dedicated knowledge of his own community – he was widely respected across political divides, with today’s tributes exemplifying that fact."

“Cllr Ramon made a unique contribution to the proceedings of Highland Council, drawing on his own experience as one of the last Lighthouse Keepers at Ardnamurchan Point and continuing to be involved as a tour guide until recently."

“He will be sorely missed for his dedication to public life in the Highlands.”
