The Shadow Health Secretary Donald Cameron has welcomed the deployment of a further 466 military personnel to assist in the roll-out of the Covid vaccination programme in Scotland.

The Highlands and Islands MSP said: “The UK armed forces have an unchallenged ability to organise complex logistical operations like this, so it is heartening to know that they are playing an increasingly important role."

“Accelerating the rate of the roll-out is the number one priority as lowering the rate of transmission reduces the chances of the virus mutating into new, more infectious strains."

“We got off to a slow start in Scotland but with this extra help I’m sure that we can make very good progress.”
