Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has welcomed the commitment from the Prime Minister that the furlough scheme will apply to Scotland if the country enters lockdown in the future.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said: “The furlough scheme was incredibly important for people across my region as it saved thousands and jobs and livelihoods."
“The Scottish Government now has the reassurance that if circumstances warrant it, the same support from the UK Government will be made available if we re-enter a lockdown period."
“The United Kingdom has the sixth largest economy in the world, and we need to lever that strength at this time of crisis for the benefit of all the people of our islands.”
