For the last 10 years Inverness Councillor Isabelle MacKenzie has been involved with Contact the Elderly, a charity working to prevent loneliness amongst the elderly.  Normally Isabelle hosts monthly tea parties in her home, with people aged over 75 and living alone invited along and offered free transport to get them to the events and back home again.

This time around Isabelle wanted to do something a bit different, so she arranged for the tea party to be held in the Town House in Inverness, an impressive Victorian building recently refurbished and a special venue.

During the afternoon the guests had a chance to take a tour of the Town House and enjoy the benefits of tea, cake and conversation in a setting that offers much to talk about.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer with Contact the Elderly, or who knows someone at risk of isolation and loneliness who could benefit from the tea parties, can go to https://www.contact-the-elderly.org.uk/ for more information.
