DONALD CAMERON MSP COMMENTS ON NFU SCOTLAND STATEMENT ON RURAL TRANSPORT

Highlands and Islands Scottish Conservative MSP, Donald Cameron, said:

“I am pleased that NFU Scotland is responding robustly in its submission because the concerns of rural Scotland about the state of our transport infrastructure have been all but ignored by Nicola Sturgeon’s government."

“One thing that the SNP Government could do immediately is to support the Scottish Conservative proposal to improve Scotland’s roads with a £100m Pothole Action Fund. Anybody who drives, as I do, around the Highlands and Islands on a regular basis will know that we desperately need action to improve many of our roads.”

Mr Cameron was commenting on the NFU Scotland News Release at https://www.nfus.org.uk/news/news/transport-system-must-deliver-for-island-rural-and-semi-rural-scotland

HCUA Comment:

If just a small portion of the many £millions of taxpayers money already wasted this year by the SNP - pursuing its obsession with breaking up the UK - had been spent on something useful like repairing Highland roads, we would all be seeing the benefits to the rural economy.

But the SNP would rather shift the blame for problems with rural roads onto local authorities - despite having cut LA funding to the bone and beyond, all whilst presiding over a collapse in Scottish Income Tax revenues that has required a UK bailout of the SNP's £1 Billion black hole.
