Donald Cameron MSP

Shadow Finance Secretary Donald Cameron said: “I welcome that, in the face of strong pressure from the Scottish Conservatives and business representatives, the SNP Government has performed a screeching U-turn."

“While their measures still fall short of the support available south of the border it is welcome nonetheless.  In future the Scottish Government should support our businesses in the same way as businesses in the rest of the UK are being supported."

“At a time like this there is no case for divergence as it just causes confusion and anomalies.”

HCUA Comment:

All the SNP had to do in the first place was replicate what the UK Government had put in place: simple, immediate, effective.

But instead, in pursuit of politically-motivated "divergence" - apparently intended to show that Scotland is "different", as part of SNP obsession with its separatist agenda - the SNP chose to withhold money and thus to deliberately damage Scottish businesses and threaten thousands of Scottish jobs.

What that demonstrates unequivocally is that - even in the worst crisis we have faced in decades - the SNP puts its narrow political interests and obsessions first, ignoring what is best for Scotland and the Scottish people.  That simple fact tells you everything you need to know about the SNP and its real agenda - and why the SNP is unfit to govern.
