A new scheme which will help distilleries cut carbon emissions is being enthusiastically backed by Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron.
The £10m Green Distilling Fund, funded by the UK Government, and launched today, will help distilleries harness energy sources such as low-carbon hydrogen, biomass and repurposed waste to power their operations.
Mr Cameron said: “Consumers now want to know that the products they consume are produced responsibly and with respect for the environment, so this scheme will only enhance the strength of our global brand.
“This is great news for our whisky producers and will support the very promising growth in gin production across my region, and the jobs and investment that goes with it.”
