Highland B&Bs have received £432,000 in total from a £3m B&B hardship fund, which Edward Mountain MSP campaigned for during the summer.

Edward Mountain MSP commented:

“I am delighted that so many Highland B&Bs have benefited from this hardship fund, which I campaigned for.

Whilst I welcomed the Scottish Government’s previous hardship funds it was clear they made a grave error in excluding B&Bs from receiving financial support because they did not have business bank accounts. This was deeply unfair and that’s why I launched my campaign to ensure these B&Bs did not miss out.

The fact that Highland B&Bs have claimed a shared total of £432,000 from this hardship fund shows how much this vital support was needed.

I will continue to press the Scottish Government to support our Highland tourism industry, which is still recovering from the impact of the pandemic.”
