Cameron presses Sturgeon on distancing rules

Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has pressed the First Minister about the discrepancy between social distancing rules at cultural venues compared to hospitality.

The Scottish Conservative MSP challenged Nicola Sturgeon on the subject yesterday during the First Minister’s Covid update only to be told that the Scottish Government was still reviewing the issue.

He said: “Back in early May, Nicola Sturgeon said the Scottish Government would review the restrictions and report back after three weeks.  Well, three weeks have come and gone, and we appear to be no nearer an explanation or, potentially, a change in the rules."

“Here in the Highlands and Islands, this lack of guidance is having serious consequences for communities trying to plan Highland games, festivals, and agricultural shows."

“Clarity is vital and I very much hope that the Scottish Government does what it said it would do, and provide us with the clarity we need.”
