Donald Cameron MSP comments on breakdown of Islay ferry, MV Hebridean Isles

Highlands and Islands Scottish Conservative MSP Donald Cameron said: “The news of this latest breakdown will sadly come as little surprise to communities right along the west coast. Nevertheless, it remains scandalous that a lifeline service like this, provided by a state-owned operator, should depend on a vessel that is over 30 years old."

“How on earth can island communities, already threatened by depopulation and the loss of their young people, have any confidence in SNP ministers who have so comprehensively failed to deliver something so basic as a resilient and reliable ferry service?”

Yet again we see the consequences of 15 years of SNP misrule and failure, all entirely avoidable: if the Nationalists made any attempt to govern in the interests of the Scottish people, and dropped the endless distractions that their obsession with damaging separation, these failures, that daily blight the lives of tens of thousands of Scots, might get the attention they deserve.  But whilst Sturgeon's incompetent administration - propped up by craven Green MSPs - remains in power, Scotland will not see any improvements.
